CX HEAVY DUTY CUTTERS

Single rotor high-torque cutter/hog for primary size reduction of large, dense materials

  • Ideal for reducing EPDM/SB synthetic rubber, wood, chemicals, plastics, detergent blocks, scrap products, fertilizer, resins, chocolate blocks and other large, dense materials
  • Reduces large blocks and chunks into particles ≥ 1/16 in. (1.6 mm).
  • Chamber lengths from 12 to 36 in. (305 to 914 mm)
  • Material feed via gravity or optional pneumatically-driven ram feeder
  • Available paired with SCC Screen Classifying Cutters for secondary size reduction ≥ 20 mesh

The MUNSON® CX Heavy Duty Cutter is a high-torque cutter/hog that delivers a positive raking action for reducing blocks and chunks of high-density materials up to 30 in. (762 mm) wide and 8 in. (203 mm) high, into particles ≥ 1/16 in. (1.6 mm) depending on application.

The rotor assembly is comprised of tightly stacked discs that are interlocked to rotate as one high-inertia mass. Each disc is machined with two full-width slots on opposing sides that are fitted with replaceable tool steel cutter inserts of the same width, with no gaps between cutter pathways, subjecting the entire face of incoming material to aggressive ripping action.

The solid rotor discs act as a backstop for incoming materials to control particle size and limit the feed rate to prevent overcharging of the chamber.

In addition to shredding the material, the cutters shear it against a full-width, tight-tolerance bed knife located at the downswing side of the material chamber.

The high-mass rotor is driven by an oversized sheave and V-belt drive at 300 RPM as standard, producing the high torque and inertia needed to tear through products that would stall or overload standard cutters. Also offered are gear reduced

drives and other arrangements allowing variable rotor speeds from 150 to 900 RPM to optimize performance for specific applications.

High mass rotor shaft is comprised of tightly-stacked and interlocked discs.

In addition to stand-alone applications, the CX Heavy Duty Cutter is often utilized for primary reduction of materials when positioned upstream of other secondary size reduction equipment.
