Miniature, Heavy Duty Rotary Batch Mixer

UTICA, NY — A new "HD" Series of Miniature Rotary Batch Mixer features a rugged internal design and drive for materials having bulk densities up to 80 lbs/cu ft (1.28 gm/cc). Equally suited for laboratory testing and 24/7 blending of materials that are heavy, abrasive or otherwise place high demands on production equipment, HD Series Mixers are said to blend ingredients in parts as small as one per million with 100% uniformity in less than three minutes.

The mixer features a rotating drum with proprietary mixing flights that tumble, turn and fold material gently while achieving total uniformity in two to three minutes, regardless of disparities in the bulk densities, particle sizes or flow characteristics of batch ingredients. According to the manufacturer, the unit evacuates 100% of the batch, and can be cleaned rapidly with no tools.

Ingredients are loaded through a large side access door and discharged through a plug gate, minimizing the unit's footprint.

Unlike stationary mixing vessels that leave a residual "heel" of material after discharge, the rotating vessel and internal flights of the rotary mixer reportedly lift and direct the entire batch into the discharge spout for complete evacuation with no residual material or manual intervention, improving product quality and process control while facilitating rapid, thorough cleaning.

Models range in maximum capacity from 0.25 to 15 cu ft (7 to 425 liters) or 2 to 1200 lbs (1 to 544 kg), and are equally effective in blending of batches that comprise between 5 to 100 percent of rated capacity, offering flexibility desirable in both laboratory and production environments.
